Thanks to JetBlue for Being an Allergy-Friendly Airline

Writer: TaliaBelleLifestyleTaliaBelleLifestyle

If you are flying with nut allergies and looking for an allergy-safe airline option, JetBlue is the airline to fly. In general, they are known for their allergy-friendly travel. My experience traveling last weekend reminded me why I feel most safe on JetBlue.

Last week, I flew from NY to Florida for a Sweet 16 trip with 10 of my closest friends and our moms. We had so much fun at Evermore Resort in Orlando, Florida

– more about Evermore coming soon.

Anyway, although my getaway was great, the flight getting there was a scary one. I usually fly on JetBlue because they are great about making accommodations for my severe tree nut allergy. But, we had a credit for Delta so we flew on Delta the flight there. Even though Delta is high quality, clean and very friendly, I probably won’t fly with them again. I made sure to inform them on the severity of my tree nut allergies beforehand. I also reminded them again when my mom and I got on the plane and asked for extra wipes to clean the seats. So, I was shocked and became paranoid when we were up in the air and they offered bags of pistachios to everyone around me. When my mom reminded them about my allergy, they told her their policies changed, and they would no longer stop people from eating nuts. However, passing out nuts to passengers is actually encouraging nuts to be eaten by a lot of people at the same time. I know there are probably nuts on every flight, but passing out pistachios puts their crumbs and oils all over the plane. I think passing out tree nuts or peanuts on a flight is a mistake, given there are so many people today with allergies. This is why I always feel safer on JetBlue

For me and my allergy, the flight back on JetBlue was a far better experience. JetBlue’s flight attendants are always so kind and helpful, and I feel better knowing that they will do whatever they can to make flying with allergies safer. I appreciate how they create a small nut-free buffer zone around me, and they ask people who want to eat nuts to step away from that area if they choose to eat the nuts. Also, they always have allergy-free snacks available. I appreciate their policies and thoughtfulness. They won’t stop people from eating nuts, they just ask them to do it in a way that is safe for people on the plane who have severe anaphylactic allergies, like myself. So, I want to send a big thank you to JetBlue for being an allergy-friendly airline, and I also want to encourage those of you with food allergies to not have a fear of flying, because it can be safe.

I wanted to share this beautiful picture I took out of the plane window!
